2nd meeting and work distribution list

30th of June 2009 was WinTechnology's 2nd meeting for this internet business project.

The main objectives of this meeting was discussion of the work distribution and page layout of our web application. Below are details of the discussion results at the end of the meeting:

i) Team leader Lim Sze Lin came up with initial page layout sketches of the web application

ii) Team members discuss on the page layout sketches

iii) Design manager Jee Yi Wen is assigned to refine the sketches
iv) Work distribution of sections of the web application

-Lim Sze Lin and Tan Kean Kong assigned to design and create the product display pages and the product upload mechanism

-Tan Kean Kong assigned to design and create other display pages in the web application

-Jee Yi Wen assigned to design and create the purchase record mechanism

-Ong Li Jia assigned to design and create the shopping cart

-Oh Sze Harn assigned to design and create the search function in the web application

Our Proposal

Project Proposal

WinTechnology Corporation plans to start an internet business project that creates an environment for internet business that benefits consumers by providing a secure and reliable business environment. With the reliability and the extremely wide coverage of the internet, we will provide a market space that is worldwide. For the consumers, we will offer them a safe, simple yet detailed internet shopping experience that is also enjoyable as well.

Our internet business project consists of creating a web application that acts as a portal for consumers to do online shopping. We will be specializing only in computer related gadgets and accessories. For the consumers, online shopping with us will be just as simple as shopping in the supermarket, with the benefit of not needing to leave the house and just a few clicks on the mouse button. Customers can view photos and detail information of the products we sell on our web application. Each customer will be given a virtual shopping cart, which they can build up a list of products they wish to purchase while they browse through our catalog of products. If the customers wish to edit their shopping cart list before checking out, a simple click on the ‘delete’ tab on our web application will remove the unwanted product from the list. For more specific purchases, customers can use our search function available on our web application to search for specific products they wish to purchase. After the customers have finalized their shopping cart list, with a single click on the ‘check out’ tab on our web application, customers can make their payment online via credit card. Once we get an official confirmation from the bank of a valid credit card payment, we will ship the goods to the address given by the customers. If customers do not make a valid payment within a given period, that business transaction will be cancelled and the goods will not be send to customer. In this way, every business transaction is safe and secure.

Extra cost such as transportation cost for every purchase can add a significant amount of money on the purchased goods by the customers, thus increasing the total money spent. In WinTechnology Corporation, the entire shopping process can be done online and we will be shipping the goods to the address given by the customers without customers needing to leave the house, thus reducing the total money spent by the customers on each purchase.

Long queue is a problem every customer does not wish to encounter during every shopping experience. Online shopping with WinTechnology Corporation ensures every customer’s shopping experience does not require the customer to wait for any queue. Our web application will process every customer’s purchases instantaneously without any delay as everything is done by our server without the need of human confirmation which may create a delay.

For our project, we will be creating a web application that uses PHP technology and MySQL database system. We have a team that consists of 5 team members. The entire project will be divided into sections for 5 of us to complete each section. The team leader will be coordinating the whole web application creation process and supervising every part of the creation process of each section while also maintaining a connection with the lecturer in charge so that we are always aware of the latest update about the project. The programming leader and the programmer will be in charge of the coding of the web application while the design manager will create a design that the programming section will follow. The design manager will also make sure the coding is written according to the design. Finally, we have the document manager who will be responsible for documentation activities and document coordination, including updating the blog of the web application creation process and the final result of the project. Together, we will create an attractive, easy to use yet sophisticated web application that will make this internet business project a success.

WinTechnology 1st Meeting

On 24th of Jun, WinTechnology members had gathered for our very first meeting.
The meeting is mainly to discuss about the technologies that we would like to use for creating our webpage and to brainstorm our company's proposal.
